چکیده
Abstract Phenolic compounds are ubiquitous plant secondary metabolites that possess various biological activities and known to interact with proteins, altering their structure properties. Therefore, interactions between these proteins has gained increasing attention due potential benefits human health for exploitation by the food industry. can form complexes via covalent linkages and/or non-covalent through hydrophobic, electrostatic, van der Waals forces hydrogen bonding. Insight into protein-protein interactions from analytical ultracentrifugation.
Analytical ultracentrifugation is a free solution technique with no supplementary immobilization, columns or membranes required, and can be used to study self-association and hetero-interactions, stoichiometry, reversibility and interaction strength across a very large dynamic range (dissociation constants from 10(-12) M to 10(-1) M). In the present paper, we review some of the advances that ha...
متن کاملA review of phenolic antioxidants isolated from endophytic fungi
Oxidative stress caused by overproduction of free radicals or oxygenated radical species plays a major role in causing many diseases. The findings suggest the use of antioxidants as compounds to control the release of these radicals or directly prevent their formation. Therefore, antioxidants can be used as drugs to reduce or prevent oxidative stress. Herbal medicines are the basis of modern ph...
متن کاملAmyloidogenic protein-membrane interactions: mechanistic insight from model systems.
The toxicity of amyloid-forming proteins is correlated with their interactions with cell membranes. Binding events between amyloidogenic proteins and membranes result in mutually disruptive structural perturbations, which are associated with toxicity. Membrane surfaces promote the conversion of amyloid-forming proteins into toxic aggregates, and amyloidogenic proteins, in turn, compromise the s...
متن کاملProbabilistic in Silico Prediction of Protein-Peptide Interactions
Peptide recognition modules (PRMs) are specialised compact protein domains that mediate many important protein-protein interactions. They are responsible for the assembly of critical macromolecular complexes and biochemical pathways (Pawson and Scott, 1997), and they have been implicated in carcinogenesis and various other human diseases (Sudol and Hunter, 2000). PRMs recognise and bind to pept...
متن کاملIn silico analyses of metagenomes from human atherosclerotic plaque samples
BACKGROUND Through several observational and mechanistic studies, microbial infection is known to promote cardiovascular disease. Direct infection of the vessel wall, along with the cardiovascular risk factors, is hypothesized to play a key role in the atherogenesis by promoting an inflammatory response leading to endothelial dysfunction and generating a proatherogenic and prothrombotic environ...
